So do we. Be a part of it.
As a non-profit organization, Lyric Arts relies heavily on a team of dedicated volunteers to keep the theater thriving and make the magic happen. Without our volunteers, we would not exist!
Want to experience the excitement, fun, camaraderie, and pride of being involved in a vibrant theater community?
Contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Gale Peterson, by email or (763) 233-0807.
There are a number of ways to become a volunteer with Lyric Arts!
Front of House:
To volunteer as an Usher only, use this link to sign up on our system. You will receive an email confirming your sign up along with the information necessary to become an Usher. Minimum age for an usher is 14.
To volunteer for Concessions or Wine Bar you must attend an orientation/training session. These are held periodically throughout the year and are listed on this website. If the dates do not work for you contact the Volunteer Coordinator directly at email@example.com to set up training.
To become a part of our set building team, check the schedule for upcoming meeting dates. Each production will have a meeting just prior to beginning work on the next production. Join us for coffee and donuts, and find out what roles need to be filled for that show.
For other roles, contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information about current volunteer needs.
No experience is necessary for the set building team – you can learn as you go. However, volunteers should be comfortable around power tools and have availability on weekdays.
Please send an email to email@example.com for more information on volunteer roles for fundraising, committees, special events, publicity, etc.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the time commitment to be a volunteer?
Front of House shifts begin an hour before the show starts and last up to 3 ½ hours. Though we love repeat volunteers, there is no minimum requirement for the number of performances per year at which you volunteer. Front of House roles include:
Usher – age 14+
Concessions/Popcorn – age 16+
Coffee/Wine Bar – age 21+
Artistic Team volunteers help our team with behind-the-scenes projects, including:
Props – crafter/assistant, organization, etc.
Costumes – sewing, pressing, finishing touches, inventory, etc.
Lights – cable repair, strike assistance, etc.
Many miscellaneous jobs that can take a few days to a few weeks.
Shop hours are 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Please note that some projects can be completed off site as well.
Commitment is generally on a per show basis. Most shows have a 5-week build process. Volunteers should be able to commit for the entire five-week period, or a significant part of it. We can help you find something that fits your schedule.
Operations Volunteers work directly with staff members on special projects. Roles include:
Fundraising and Sponsorships
Board and Committees
Commitment is worked out with the appropriate staff member.
Will I get training?
All volunteers work under the guidance of Lyric Arts staff members who will give you all the training you need to complete a task.
Front of House volunteers receive training from the Volunteer Coordinator in either an orientation/training session, or one-on-one training.
Artistic Team volunteers and Operations volunteers receive “on the job” training from staff and veteran volunteers.
How do I sign up to become a Lyric Arts Volunteer?
Sign up for the training date that best fits your schedule and the Volunteer Coordinator will email you to confirm and send you any additional information you may need.
If the dates do not work for you, email the Volunteer Coordinator to set up a time for a one-on-one training.
